Other reviewers have mentioned the many anachronisms, some jarring. Coupled with a far fetched plot that just skims the surface and is a little too stretched and coincidental to swallow, this seemed written by a sixth grader. There were no new, fresh plot or character trajectories. Characters were very cardboard. This could have worked if the author had dug deeper. It just felt uninspired and asked too much suspension of disbelief - particularly the last third. When a character, fresh from surgery with shrapnel near his heart sneaks out of the hospital to hide up a mountain...naw, not buying it. Lots of rookie mistakes in this book. Wish it had been better.
